Our Brand is Crisis is a riveting political documentary and cinema vérité chronicling the adventures of ace political strategist James Carville and his associates as guns for hire in the 2002 Bolivian election. Their task: to get former president "Goni" elected by applying the methods of market research to political campaigning. With remarkable access to the men, we see how Goni is their product and they brand him through the use of crisis. Postscript: Evo Morales, the first fully-indigenous person to become head of state since the Conquest, is elected president in 2005.

Thursday, August 16, 7:30 – 9:00 pm
Outfoxed — This lively film from director Robert Greenwald examines how media empires, led by Rupert Murdoch's Fox News, have been running a "race to the bottom" in television news. With a shockingly in-depth look at Fox News, we also get to explore Murdoch's burgeoning kingdom. Former Fox employees talk about how they were forced to push a "right-wing" point of view or risk their jobs. As one employee said, "There's no sense of integrity as far as having a line that can't be crossed."

Posada Carriles – (An American Terrorist) the film
New Film Documentary Showing in Marin
Posada Carriles: Terrorism Made in USA documents the terrorist path of Posada Carriles, including the 1976 bombing of the Cubana airliner and his longstanding relationship with the CIA. The demand for justice for the survivors and those who lost family members because of Posada Carriles' actions comes to life on the screen to remind us all that terrorism cannot be justified under any circumstances. George W. Bush himself said, "Those that harbor terrorists, are also terrorists."
Introducing the film will be Gloria La Riva, Coordinator of the National Committee to Free the Cuban Five and leading organizer in the campaign for Posada's extradition from the comforts of life in Miami to face trial in Venezuela.
The film will be shown on Friday, August 17, 7:30 PM at The Redwoods Presbyterian Church, 110 Magnolia Avenue, Larkspur. A $5-10 donation is requested. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. This event is sponsored by the Marin Interfaith Task Force on the Americas. For more information call 415/924-3227, email mitf@igc.org or go to www.mitfamericas.org.
